DEATH OF COMRADE HARKISHAN SINGH SURJEET
I am writing on behalf of the executive committee of the South Asian Peoples Forum UK to express our deep condolences at the death of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet, a veteran leader of the communist movement of South Asia.
We pay our glowing tributes to comrade Surjeet’s life long struggle for the cause of peasants, workers and deprived sections of society. Comrade Surjeet struggled all his life for the emancipation of the downtrodden sections of society. The Marxist views and rational voice of Comrade Surjeet was a source of encouragement to all those who dreamt of a progressive, modern and egalitarian society in all parts of the world.
Comrade Surjeet passed through the vicissitudes of life and faced poverty and imprisonment but never gave up his ideals and remained intellectually active till the last. He remained committed to his political beliefs till the end and died as a dedicated Marxist. He earned a name and respect of workers, peasants and enlightened population of the world.
SAPF and NWP (Pak) UK are proud of its long standing links with comrade Surjeet and his party during the independence struggle. We are aware of the importance of the organizational work of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet at every stage and his unremitting commitment to the objective of socialism.
His unwavering lead as a communist despite imprisonment and legal attack is an example to communists everywhere.
I pay respectful homage to his memory and convey our heartfelt condolences to his wife Pritam Kaur, sons, daughter, grandchildren and other family members.
With our comradely sympathies and international greetings
For and on behalf of South Asian Peoples Forum UK
